> Drugs, child porn, and terrorism can always get people to turn their backs on liberation technologies. These dark pockets of the world, facilitated by a free internet, are unfortunate. But they are also a necessary evil when the alternative is totalitarian control of speech and assembly.

It seems like this framing presents a false dichotomy. Those dark pockets exist even with heavy-handed government. It unnecessarily concedes a point to the most evil people in the world (the high priests of government) if the framing comes off as "bad stuff with freedom, or no bad stuff with totalitarianism."

yep...the race is on for sure. And....now ONE of the Runners is likely to be pure as Snow White and the driven snow. Our would-be Intolerant Elite-Rulers will certainly use whatever repulsive Label to brand all opposition to their control -- We/You WILL be branded a Terrorist, Child Pornographer...trafficker. ANd it will take resolve and Resilience to resist the demand for perfection.

Donald Trump (Vance/Theil, Musk...et al) are NOT perfect men. Far from it. BUT...they are Far more likely to buy us TIME...to develop new/better Underthrow systems. We need Time, and the more we have the more our Underthrow Systems can develop...a Far more Fragmented and Decentralizes world of and variously cooperative independent conclaves of resistance.

Are there efforts to deploy the functionality of Telegram on a decentralized network like bitcoin?

I don't know, but that would probably go too slowly. Nostr, however, could be the next generation tech for PMs and private groups. And I don't think there is a single *owner* as it's open source.

Thanks for the tip on NOSTR. Lyn Alden has a great set of posts on it, including its interface with Bitcoin functions that can be used by content creators like yourself to receive Zaps which are Bitcoin payments. Her posts left me wondering if an interface between X and NOSTR could be created so X users in Brazil can receive posts from X via NOSTR bypassing the Brazilian governments blocking of X. This would require a set of NOSTR relays to be setup which could be a vulnerability requiring counter measures. The Brazilian government also froze Starlink's bank accounts. Here too NOSTR could be used by Starlink subscribers to pay for their service bypassing the banking system. These seem like good Underthrow tactics.

We recently witnessed Meta admitting US government censorship of their platform.

What goes on that isn't admitted???
