Quite possibly the best article I have read this year.

I’ve been burnt out on political writing but this piece really nails it.

This is a very important piece. I'm quite surprised to see that it still has only a few restacks. I imagine that this will change with time!

I'm always struck by the emotional and psychological underpinnings of the worldview: resentment, insecurity, bitterness.

No one on the left has an answer to these observations, of course. They ignore them entirely. You will NEVER see a leftist address the deep hatred of Western civilization that they commonly display... as they fully (exorbitantly) benefit from its blessings.

I wrote elsewhere that the fundamental; political question of our time remains: is the Western intellectual and institutional heritage worthy and defensible? Or is it not?

So far I have not seen any superior alternative, and these leftist critics don't even attempt to offer one. 'Just sweep the pieces from the board,' they say 'and everything will magically get much better.' How childish.

Here is the brutal truth. The contemporary complaint of othering, especially from the followers of people like Said, is in fact an admission of feeling inferior. Otherwise, who TF cares what someone else may or may not think? It is a banal confession masquerading as righteous indignation.
