A video hit my feed today, of an articulate western North Carolina women sitting on her front stoop near Marshall talking into her mobile and she was up to one million views. There is a revolution underway in information dissemination, shattering the forces pressing for centralization.

My family lives 20 minutes way from Marshall and I dread seeing what has become of that once adorable town. But you’re right: Thousands armed with smart phones will break centralized media and central authority. My buddies in the Bitcoin Veterans are up there installing mesh networks for people right now. We’ve got to find open source redundancy systems because they’ll eventually take down X and capture the others.

My family built a house in Linville in 1924. We celebrated its 100th anniversary this summer with 110 family members. We are very fortunate the house came through the storm successfully. I have spent many hours hiking and swimming the Linville Gorge. It is a fantastic area. We will be closely watching the area's recovery. If X gets taken down I hope to see Nostr or some evolution of distributed social media counter the censorship.
