Hey Max,

Goodness knows I know the torture of naming things... I answered in the singular, as the survey requested, but I wanted to share some comments on each option:

Empire of the Mind: great book title! Not sure this is a great title for a podcast, though, as it makes you 'Emperor of the Mind' 😂

The Social Singularity: if you want to only pull in tech-nerds this might work. But is that what you want...?

After Politics: I gave this serious thought. I'm a huge fan of MacIntyre's After Virtue, and find the 'After X' format compelling. But the thing is, while we live in a time of anti-politics, my read on you is that you would like to reconstitute politics (at least in, say, Arendt's sense). So I'm not sure this is the right flavour.

Borderlands: I voted for this one, because it is intriguing and general - it doesn't tie you down to anything specific and says clearly 'we're in between all the obvious things', which I think is you to a tee! Sure, it doesn't advertise anything specific... but I think there are advantages to that.

Civilizations of Tomorrow: this would make a great sci-fi B-movie title! I think this dovetails with your interests in general, but I think 'civilisations' might have the same problem as 'empire'... it kind of casts an image of scale, and your interests are in some respects more interested in how to avoid scale.

None was compelling: I like the idea of calling a podcast 'None was compelling', actually (although this was obviously not your intent!) 🤣

---

Anyway, just my 2 cents. Please post the poll results when you have 'em - but also, don't be bound by them. Most important is that the podcast title resonates with you, as you'll have to live with it. 😉

Stay wonderful!

Chris.

I chose Borderlands, too. Although I have another suggestion for using Max's surname in the show name if the show format includes guests:

Beyond Borders with Max Borders

I was considering that, but it's already taken. :(

Ah, bummer. What kind of format are you considering? Will it vary, or do you envision a consistent structure to your shows?

Undercast

Under the Grey Robes

Why not just the Underthrow Podcast?
